On this Veteran's Day, I want to say Thank You to my Father.

At seventeen, my father, the then "paper boy" enlisted in the air force and entered the German theater of WWII.  Engineering smart and analytical they put him on the task of decoding messages. After Berlin fell, he decoded a message that the Russians were planning to cross the Rhine and take more of Germany for themselves. Big news that helped organize a push to resist all crossing of the river by Russian troops. Just a cool story.

He went on to Engineering School and received his Professional Engineering degree. After 50 years in construction he was interviewed regarding one of his favorite projects. The Botanical Gardens, Tropical Conservatory was a vision that no one really knew how to build. My dad did. Here is that story. Way cooler than putting mats!

Before his death, his first wish was for a military funeral. It was amazing. The folded flag to my mother made your heart want to pound out of your chest. Thank you for your service Dad! We won't forget what it meant.
